Wade Hazel and Tavia Pigg
Since their arrival in Blacksburg a year and a half ago, Wade Hazel and Tavia Pigg continue to put their own touches on this garden, most of which was established by the previous owners.
Beginning at street level, the earthen bowl at the front of the house is landscaped with large stone, various shrubs, and spring-flowering bulbs, all of which compose a tranquil and green space. At the side of the property, a pathway leads to a brick garden house with a fenced area for a new vegetable garden. A beekeeper in Indiana, Tavia has repurposed her beehives, which now serve as planters. The spacious area behind the house has been opened to the sun by the removal of several large pine trees, and the second story covered balcony enjoys lovely views of the spacious back yard.
