305 Dunton Drive, Blacksburg
Linda Monroe and Johnny Moore
Splitting their time between Blacksburg and their home in Florida, Linda and Johnny have developed a summertime garden that bursts with color. Ornamental grasses, larkspur, hydrangeas, petunias, crocosmia, yarrow, zinnia, hollyhocks and penstemon all provide color in summer, while Japanese anemones and obedient plants flourish in fall. A bed of dahlias shares space in the sunshine with Johnny’s tomato plants, all fenced in to discourage deer. A short stone wall at one side of the house provides a beautiful space for more plants, along with convenient access from a sitting area. While she introduces new varieties every year, Linda says she gardens in a way that reflects her time and energy.
